dinotopia

I was getting tired of drawing ridiculously well-dressed men and women and pretty objects. What is the perfect antidote? Dinosaurs!

James Gurney's Dinotopia is the most wonderful book you can ever buy for your kid or yourself. My copy is 20 years old and I still get a kick and some drawings out of it. Worth every penny.

Oh my gosh, we are SO kindred spirits! I loved that book! Hahaha. It was given to me as a gift when I was 9 or 10 - I remember flipping through it over and over again throughout my childhood. The illustrations really do what a children's book should - capture a child's imagination. I would sit for hours just wondering what it would be like to live with dinosaurs. Sadly, it was not shipped to the Philippines when we moved so I can't say I have a 16 yr old copy. Boo. But thanks so MUCH for reminding me about this, I HAVE to get a copy for my niece and nephew now. The thing is I haven't seen a copy in stores for ages..?

It was out of print for a while, but they've just released the 20th anniversary edition. Time to start the cycle again...? :)
